πΏ Heartbreaking Wildlife Encounter πΏ
On a warm Saturday morning, a startling event unfolded at Shange Camp in Mbire District. A dog, appearing out of nowhere, raced through our camp from the direction of Shange River. Initially confused, we carried on with our morning routine, unaware of the unfolding drama.
To our surprise, the dog returned, chasing a magnificent bushbuck. Moments later, cries echoed from the eastern side of the Shange River, near our dining shed. Rushing to investigate, we discovered a female bushbuck lying defenceless along the dry riverbed, under attack from the relentless dog.
Despite our intervention, the dog fled, leaving the wounded animal helpless on the sandy riverbed. Our camp attendant, Takemore Mutaiwa, examined the bushbuck, finding it alive but with severe wounds to its neck and legs. Hoping for its recovery, we brought the injured creature back to camp.
Sadly, despite our care, the bush buck's condition deteriorated. We urgently contacted ZIMPARKS and the MRDC Department of Natural Resources, but before help could arrive, the weakened animal succumbed to its injuries. ZIMPARKS later arrived to respectfully remove the fallen bushbuck.
This painful experience reminds us of the delicate balance between wildlife and human presence. Let us cherish and protect the precious creatures that share our world, ensuring their survival for generations to come. ππΎπ
